Police Solve Facebook Cheating Case, Arrest Three in Handwara

Srinagar, July 20: Police in Handwara have successfully solved a Facebook cheating case, arresting three individuals involved in the crime.

 

According to a statement issued by a police spokesperson, Police Station Vilgam received a complaint regarding cheating on Facebook through a honey trap and extortion. In response, a case (FIR No. 43/2024) was registered under relevant sections of law, and an investigation was promptly initiated.

 

During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused had created a fake Facebook account to impersonate a girl. The individuals arrested have been identified as Firdous Ah Tantray, son of Mohd Shafi Tantray; Danish Ah Bhat, son of Gh. Mohd Bhat; and Aaliyan Ah Bhat, son of Ashiq Hussain Bhat, all residents of Dohama Vilgam.

 

The police have taken the accused into custody and seized their mobile phones. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details and potential additional victims.

 

In light of this case, the police have urged the public to be cautious on social media platforms, advising them not to fall prey to fraudsters and to refrain from sharing personal information with unknown individuals.
