Weather Advisory Issued for Jammu and Kashmir: Heavy Rain/Snow Expected

 

SRINAGAR (PTK) : The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued a weather advisory for Kashmir, predicting heavy to very heavy rain and snowfall. An active western disturbance is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas starting from the evening of the 29th of February onwards. The advisory warns of widespread moderate rain and snow from the night of the 29th to the afternoon of the 3rd of March, with peak activity expected on the 2nd of March.

 

The Minister of Earth Science, India Meteorological Department, has issued a weather advisory specifically for Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain and snow over the Pir Panjal Range of Jammu Division and the middle to higher reaches of Kashmir Division. These areas include Anantnag-Pahalgam, Kulgam, Sinthan Pass, Shupiyan-Pir Ki Gali, Sonamarg-Zojila, Bandipora-Razdan Pass, Gulmarg, and Kupwara-Sadhan Pass.

 

The predicted weather conditions may lead to disruptions in surface and air transport, including the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other major roads in the middle and higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir. Residents and authorities are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on further developments regarding the weather situation.
