Press Trust Of Kashmir Srinagar Nov 29: Local populace in Srinagar’s Hassan-Abad area is reeling under darkness for the 3rd consecutive day as the power transform damaged last week is yet to be repaired.
Amid the sub- zero temperatures, the locals of the area accused the power development department of not paying any heed to their woes and that no concrete efforts are being made to repair the damaged transformer.
There are patients on oxygen supplies and the inverters too have dried out, says a local inhabitant, adding that when he along with few others contacted the PDD, they were told that the repair and installation of the damaged transformer will take five more days. “This goes contrary to the claims the government made ahead of the winter’s arrival that the damaged transformers will be repaired within a stipulated time of 24 hours. Winters are proving calamitous for us and thanks to PDD’s lackadaisical approach that our area has been plunged into absolute darkness,” locals said.
