Van Mahotsav 2022 celebrated by Social Forestry Division Rajouri

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR RAJOURI, JULY 28: To mark the annual planting festival together with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and taking the initiative of Green J&K Drive forward, Social Forestry Division Rajouri on Thursday organised VAN MAHOTSAV-2022 celebrations here at four different locations in Govt. High School Dalogra (Rajouri), Govt. Higher Secondary School, Dhangri (Rajouri), Govt High School Masiot (Sunderbani) and PWD Dak Bunglow, Nowshera.

 The main function was held in Govt High School Dalogra where the event was presided over by the Chief Guest, DDC Chairperson Rajouri,  Ch. Naseem Liaqat, which witnessed massive public participation from different walks of life, including school students, teachers, PRIs,  local people and allied wings of the Forest Department. District Dev. Council Member Doongi, Ch. Khalid Hussain, BDC Chairperson Ch. Darbar Ahmed, ADDC Rajouri  Pawan Kumar Prihar, District Soil & Water Conservation Officers  Rashid Manhas, Headmaster Mrs. Naheeda Khan  and Range Officer SF Range Rajouri, Mohammad Iqbal also participated in the plantation drive.

Over 400 plants of different species including Pila Amaltas, Amla, Bottle Brush, Rantha,Kassod tree, Bamboos, Nerium, Dodonea,Chir, Karangle, etc were  planted on the occasion. DDC  Chairperson, Naseem Liaqat appealed PRIs to play their active role  and mobilise more and more people for participation in plantation programmes being initiated by  Social Forestry Division Rajouri.

In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of forests and vegetation. Similar views were also expressed by the other  speakers in the event.

 The chief Guest also distributed   tool kits and Vanmitra certificates  amongst the Social Forestry officials and Vanmitras, respectively.

 Zakir Hussain, Headmaster Govt. School Bhindi, conducted the   proceedings of the event.

 DFO Social Forestry Division Rajouri, Rakesh Kumar Saraf presented the vote of thanks to the participants on this pious occasion of tree planting.

A similar planting function was also held at PWD Dak Bunglow Nowshera, by the Range Officer SF Range Lamberi, Shafiq Ahmed.

On the occasion, BDC Chairman Retd Headmaster, Bodh Raj; Chairman Municipal Committee Nowshera, Narinder Kumar Sharma; Retd Principal, Sukhdev; Chairman Sanatan Dharam Sabha Nowshera  Kesar Sawhney, and people from all walks of life participated in this plantation drive.
