Gunfight rages in Shopian

Shopian March 31 (PTK) A gunfight started between militants and government forces in Turkwangam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday

An official said that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Turkwangam.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight, he said.

A senior police officer also confirmed about exchange of firing between militants and government forces and said that two to three militants are trapped. (PTK)
