JK SC/ST/OBC Casual Workers Union Budgam Calls on Ajaz Kazmi , ‘Complain against depreciation of wages to 2000 per month’

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | SRINAGAR, August 10: A delegation of JK SC/ST/OBC Casual Workers Union from Budgam on Tuesday called on Apni Trade Union State President Ajaz Kazmi apprising him about the pressing pleas of the casual workers across Kashmir valley.

The delegates met with the President Apni Trade Union at Apni Party head office in Lal Chowk Srinagar and complained about the injustices committed with them by the concerned department with regards to a major depreciation in salaries.

In a statement issued here, Kazmi said that the condition of these casual workers is extremely deplorable and the concerned departments seem to act immensely negligent towards their welfare.

“The delegation informed us that earlier the wages provided to the unskilled casual workers was Rs 9050 per month and Rs 12000 to the skilled labourers. However, recently they have been informed by the concerned authorities in the Social Welfare Department that they will be provided only Rs 2000/per month which is sheer injustice to them,”

Kazmi assured the delegation that their genuine grievances will be taken up with the competent authorities so that their sufferings are mitigated at an earliest.

“While the efforts made by the government should have focused on enhancing the monthly wages of this adroit section that works in various government departments, it’s appalling that they have to face this injustice. I would appeal to the concerned Social Welfare Department authorities to consider their genuine pleas on a prompt basis as most of them have refused to work on these wages since February 2021,” he said.(PTK).
