As authorities fail to conduct election, several DDC members in Srinagar likely to resign
Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar : As the authorities are taking time in conducting elections for Chairman District Development council in Srinagar, several DDC members have decided to resign in coming days, sources said.

They said that members are of the opinion that government isn’t willing to have a democratic set up here so what is the fun of remaining the DDC member.
We have failed to deliver on the ground and haven’t anything yet for what we have been voted so far what we have to remain here and with what face we will go before people to seek votes.
If government wants development with a democratic set up, then they must conduct election of chairman seat at an earliest so that they can work for the welfare of people, they said.
Pertinently District Election Commissioner Srinagar on Thursday last has written to State Election Commissioner for re-election of Chairman in District Development Council in Srinagar
Notably Chairman DDC Srinagar was vacated by members in no confidence motion by two third majority.
A non confidence motion was done against the Chairman District development commissioner Srinagar in which Apni Party has lost the ground.
Apni party leader who was chairman of the council has failed to prove his majority.

They said that seven DDC members had earlier written to District Magistrate Srinagar about the issue and had alleged that the chairman DDC Council Srinagar who belongs to Apni party had failed to deliver on the ground.
They had said that if they are unable to work on the ground, then for what we are there.
With loosing of Apni party, sources believe that it has paved way for BJP to get the seat in the district as the lone DDC member Er Ajaz Ahmad who has won on BJP ticket is very active in solving public issues.(PTK).
