2nd edition of Khelo India Winter Games begins today at Gulmarg
Sarinagar Feb, 26 (PTK) In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the second edition of Khelo India Winter Games begins today at Gulmarg.
The five-day event will see the participation of around 800 athletes from across the country.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju who reached Srinagar, kick started of Winter National Games from today in Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The mega event was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The sports activities include snow shoe race, ice-skating, ice-hockey, skiing, Nordic ski, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, ice stock.
The event organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir.
world famous ski-resort Gulmarg hosts the second edition of Khelo India Winter Games apart from seven categories of competitive games. The event included many recreational games that are servinh as engaging activities for locals,tourists and the visiting athletes. The event commenced with cultural presentations and participation of many dignitaries.
