12 schools in Kashmir record zero percent results

Srinagar Feb, 26 (PTK) Like every year, the private-run schools have shown better performance than government schools in Kashmir in the class 10 examinations, the result of which were announced on February 26.

While nearly 75% students passed the exams, and many government as well as private schools recorded 100% pass percentage, what is astonishing is that 12 government-run schools have recorded 0% results.

Among the twelve schools that recorded 0% results, 4 are from Srinagar, 3 from Baramulla, 2 from Anantnag and one each from Kulgam, Bandipora and Kupwara.

This weak show by government schools has raised questions on the teaching staff of these schools and efforts of education department.

On social media, the poor show of these schools was highly criticized where the netizens demanded action against the staff of these schools; saying that this poor performance is result of lack of efforts by the teaching staff.

A total 75,132 students who appeared in the board exams this year of which 76.09 percent girls and 74.04 percent boys have cleared these examinations. Out of the students that passed the examination, 9,441 got grade A, 11,347 got A2 and while 11,050 got B1 grade. 18,626 students were not able to qualify.

The percentage of the students who have qualified exams this year is more than the last year; by around 5%. Shopian recorded the highest pass percentage; where 88.20% cleared the exam. Bandipora recorded the least pass percentage; where 61.52% students cleared. (PTK)
