Illicit timber siezed in Ganderbal
Ganderbal October 1 (PTK) A large quantity of illicit timber was siezed in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday morning.
An official said that a four wheeler sumo without number plate on its way to Kangan was siezed by a forest check post at Kachpura.
A large quantity of illegally cut timber was recovered from the siezed vehicle sources added.
Forest department Ganderbal, headed by Range Officer Mansbal Ali Mohd along with concerned Territorial staff during Monday seized a Sumo without number plate loaded with illicit Timber 4 logs of Deodar 48.30Cfts at Panzin Kangan.
Range officer Mansbal Ali Mohd told PTK, that Smugglers managed to flee from the spot however the illicit timber along with vehicle without number plate was seized .
An official told that a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation has been set into motion.
He said the vehicle was confiscated by the Forest Department employees. However, the driver of the sumo vehicle managed to escape from the spot.(PTK)
