Lockout of DIC office against suspension of AIO Kupwara

 
Kupwara, Mar 19: Lockout of District information center (DIC) Kupwara office against suspension of AIO Kupwara in protest against the suspension and attachment of an assistant information officer by District Election Officer Kupwara Ansul Garg (IAS) has triggered a huge crisis in mid election season when the notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls has been issued by the Election Commission of India.

After the suspension and attachment of an assistant information officer Bashir Ahmad Sofi, employees of District Information Center (DIC) Kupwara locked down the office and demanding the revocation the suspension order.

As per the order issued by  District Election Officer Kupwara, “that Bashir Ahmad Sofi assumed the charge of DIO Kupwara on 16th March 2019 unauthorized without intimation to DIO kupwara or this office in clear violation of rules laid down in this regard.

“Therefore in view of above Bashir Ahmad Sofi AIO, TIO, Handwara is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and attached with Dy.District Election Officer Kupwara, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara has been appointed as inquiry officer to submit the detailed report within 2 weeks”.

Talking to News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir, Employees said, “Following the transfer of district information officer Kupwara, the Director Information department had given the charge of DIO Kupwara to senior most AIO Basheer Ahmad Sofi having 30 years of service in the information department but DC Kupwara while trespassing institutional jurisdiction in exercise of his powers suspended Basheer Ahmad Sofi, the Assistant Information Officer for holding the charge of DIO Kupwara under the orders of Director Information and attached him with the district election office. We have locked the DIC office and the lockout will continue till the order is revoked.” (PTK)
