With moist eyes, slain young “principal” who died in police custody laid to rest
SRINAGAR, (PTK): Amid sobs, slain young principal Rizwan Ahmad Pandit who died in police custody was laid to rest in his native area Awantipora in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
As per reports pouring in here, thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of slain youth amid pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and pro-Zakir Musa slogans. The body of youth reached his native area in between 08-09PM.
When the body of slain reached the area, thousands of people including women and children who were already waiting for body of slain from hours started chanting pro-freedom slogans. Women were seen singing songs of freedom and showering candies on the body of slain.Emotional scenes were seen during the funeral as eyes of most of the people were wet.
Mourners from different parts of Pulwama were seen marching towards the native area of slain Rizwan.
The funeral of slain youth was offered in the ground of a local Jamia Masjid after which his body was buried in a nearby graveyard.
An eyewitness told PTK that people were seen visiting the residence of slain since morning to express sympathy with his family.
Earlier, massive clashes between youth and government forces erupted in Awanitpora township after news regarding custodial death of Rizwan spread in the area.
