DC Kulgam Reviews PMGSY Implementation, Directs Timely Resolution of Project Bottlenecks
Kulgam, June 11 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, on Wednesday chaired a review meeting at the DC Office Kulgam to assess the implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the district.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Executive Engineer PMGSY Kulgam and Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs).
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding the progress achieved under various phases of the flagship rural road connectivity programme aimed at linking remote and previously unconnected habitations through all-weather road infrastructure.
Officials informed the chair that up to PMGSY-III, a total of 147 road projects and five bridge projects have been successfully completed across the district, significantly improving connectivity and accessibility in rural areas.
The meeting was further informed that under PMGSY-IV, 13 road projects are presently under execution, while eight additional road schemes are currently in the tendering stage and are expected to be taken up shortly.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of ongoing works and discussed various challenges affecting project implementation, including issues related to forest clearances and land disputes.
Emphasizing the importance of timely completion of infrastructure projects, Shahzad Alam directed the concerned officers to resolve all pending issues on priority and ensure that no unnecessary delays hamper the execution of sanctioned works.
He issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned departments and revenue authorities for expeditious disposal of land-related matters and coordination with relevant agencies for obtaining required clearances.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for close monitoring of ongoing projects and directed executing agencies to maintain quality standards while ensuring timely completion of all works under the PMGSY programme.
He reiterated the district administration’s commitment to strengthening rural road connectivity and improving transportation facilities for residents living in far-flung areas of the district.(PTK)
