Inter-Zonal U-14 Boys Kho Kho Championship Begins in Baramulla
Baramulla, June 11 (PTK): The Inter-Zonal District Level Kho Kho Championship for Under-14 Boys commenced with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit at HS Khawaja Bagh Ground, Baramulla, bringing together young athletes from across the district.
The two-day championship is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Baramulla under its annual sports calendar with the aim of identifying, promoting and nurturing emerging sporting talent at the grassroots level.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, in the presence of Activity Incharges Mubeen Ahmad Khan (PEM) and Shabir Ahmad Thoker (PEM), besides technical officials, field staff, team managers and participating players.
A total of 216 players representing 18 zonal teams from various educational zones of Baramulla district are participating in the championship. The competition is being conducted in a league format, providing maximum exposure and competitive opportunities to all participating teams. Each team is scheduled to play four matches during the tournament.
Addressing the participants, DYSSO Baramulla emphasized the vital role of sports in shaping the character, discipline, leadership qualities and overall personality development of young students.
He encouraged the players to uphold the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication and fair play while competing in the championship.
Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori reiterated the department’s commitment to providing quality sporting platforms for students and creating opportunities for talented athletes to showcase their abilities at higher levels of competition.
He said such events not only help in identifying promising talent but also contribute significantly towards promoting physical fitness, healthy lifestyles and positive engagement among youth.
The championship will continue over the next two days with a series of league matches, culminating in the crowning of the district champions.(PTK)
