ADC Budgam Reviews Telecom Projects, Pushes for Improved Digital Connectivity

DLTC Meeting Assesses Progress of 4G Saturation, BharatNet and 5G Infrastructure Projects

Budgam, June 5 (PTK): Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Level Telecom Committee (DLTC) to review the progress of major telecom infrastructure projects and address issues affecting digital connectivity across the district.

During the meeting, a detailed review of the 4G Saturation Project was conducted, with special focus on identifying additional unserved and underserved areas requiring improved mobile network coverage.

The ADC directed concerned officers to expedite the identification process and ensure that all eligible areas receive enhanced telecom connectivity at the earliest.

The committee also discussed several site-specific issues, including those related to the Zinpanchal telecom site, and directed revenue authorities to take necessary measures for their timely resolution. The meeting further reviewed the status of 4G towers established on land already transferred for telecom infrastructure across 23 locations in the district.

Progress under the BharatNet Project was also assessed, with officials apprising the chair about ongoing works aimed at strengthening broadband and internet connectivity in rural and remote areas of Budgam.

The meeting additionally reviewed the status of 5G Street Furniture Infrastructure projects. The ADC directed the Chief Planning Officer to verify the constitution of field-level teams responsible for mapping and verification of potential locations for installation of 5G infrastructure.

Emphasizing the growing importance of reliable telecom infrastructure, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah said improved digital connectivity plays a vital role in governance, public service delivery, education, healthcare, business growth and overall socio-economic development.

He stressed the need for close coordination among government departments, telecom service providers and executing agencies to remove bottlenecks and ensure timely completion of all ongoing projects.

The ADC directed all concerned departments and stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of telecom initiatives so that the benefits of enhanced digital connectivity reach every village and corner of the district.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning Budgam, Executive Engineer KPDCL Budgam, Range Officer Budgam, AGM BSNL Srinagar, Tehsildar Charar-e-Sharief, District Informatics Officer (NIC) and other concerned officers.(PTK)
