SDM Thathri Reviews Relief and Restoration Measures After Cloudburst
Thathri, June 3 (PTK): Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Thathri, Sheetal Sharma, on Tuesday conducted an extensive field visit to the areas affected by the recent cloudburst in Sub-Division Thathri and reviewed the ongoing relief, rescue and restoration measures being undertaken by various departments.
During the inspection, the SDM assessed the damage caused to residential houses and public infrastructure due to the cloudburst that struck the area yesterday. She also reviewed the impact on essential utility services, including infrastructure belonging to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department and the Power Development Department (PDD).
Officials informed that the affected stretch of the highway, which had been temporarily disrupted following the incident, was restored for single-lane traffic on the same day. Restoration teams are presently working on a war footing to ensure complete restoration of the road and facilitate smooth two-way vehicular movement at the earliest.
The SDM directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination and expedite restoration works to minimize inconvenience to the affected population.
Emphasising the importance of timely relief, Sheetal Sharma instructed field officials to remain present in the affected areas and ensure that all necessary assistance reaches the affected families without delay.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Department has initiated the distribution of essential relief material among affected households, including mattresses and blankets, to provide immediate support to families impacted by the disaster.
The SDM assured that additional assistance, wherever required, would be extended to the affected families in accordance with government norms and established procedures.
The administration has also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities during the ongoing restoration and relief operations.(PTK)
