Want President’s rule to end, elections in J&K : Guv Malik

SRINAGAR, MAY 22 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik today said that his administration wants President’s Rule to end in Jammu and Kashmir.

Governor Sayta Pal Malik speaking to reporter said that “we want President’s Rule to end as soon as possible and also request election commission to hold assembly election now in Jammu and Kashmir.

He added  “We also want elections should be happen in the state” added that Election Commission of India (ECI) would decide the dates for holding state assembly elections.

Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor’s Rule on June 19, last year after the PDP-BJP coalition government fell as the BJP decided to pull out of the alliance.

The state was brought under President’s Rule on December 19, 2018 for a period of six months as elections could not be held within six months of imposition of Governor’s Rule in the state. . (PTK)
