Valedictory function of the Inter-College Volleyball & Table Tennis Tournament held at GCoE, MA Road

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SRINAGAR, JULY 26: The valedictory function of the Inter-College Volleyball and Table Tennis Tournament was today organised by the Department of Physical Education, Govt. College of Education, IASE, M.A. Road, here.

The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. (Dr.) Quyyum Husain, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar and the Special Guest of the event was Prof. Tariq Ashai, Secretary Sports, Cluster University, Srinagar.

The Vice Chancellor in his Presidential Address emphasized the significance of sports as an integral part of curriculum. He also highlighted the role of sports in building various life skills from teamwork to leadership to discipline. His words served as a source of inspiration to all the students.

Prof. (Dr.) Tariq Ashai, in his special address also encouraged the students to be a part of all sports activities and acquainted the students how sports can prevent drug abuse and can help reach fitness goals.

Earlier, the guests were welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz, Principal of the host college. She in her welcome address encouraged the participants to ensure their participation in future activities by emphasizing that winning the game is not important however playing the game is.

Mohd. Ayoub, Physical Director of the college summated the whole score of the tournament wherein it was informed that GDC, Bemina won both the Trophies in Volleyball and Table Tennis (Doubles)

The College Cultural Committee along with the students had organised a prayer under the dynamic mentorship of Prof. Gurmeet Kour, (Alumnus of the host college). The entire auditorium was mesmerized by the soul-stirring performances of the team.

Lastly Trophies and Medals were distributed among the winning and runner up teams. Officials working in various capacities from the department of Youth Service and Police were thanked for executing their duties efficiently.

The programme was compeered by Prof. Rubeena Khateeb. The rapporteur of the event was Prof. Goussia Nissar.
