Tral, 05 July: Rubina Bano, a determined tribal girl from Basmani in Bhatnoor, Tral sub-district, has achieved a remarkable feat by establishing her own Milk Processing Unit with support from the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Her journey from participant in an awareness program to entrepreneur exemplifies resilience and initiative in rural Kashmir.

Ms. Bano, inspired by an NRLM initiative aimed at fostering self-sufficiency among rural women, invested her efforts into setting up a functional milk processing unit. Initially acquiring three cows, she now successfully produces and supplies milk, butter, curd, and other dairy products to local shopkeepers in nearby areas such as Panner Mandoora and Bhatnoor. Her venture has garnered significant attention and customer orders, bolstering her economic standing.

In an interview with Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK), Ms. Bano expressed her contentment and satisfaction with the venture, highlighting its positive impact on her family of five. “I am happy with this unit as it supports my family,” she shared. Her success story stands as a beacon for other young girls, encouraging them to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors and achieve financial independence.

The NRLM, which has facilitated numerous similar success stories across the Kashmir Valley in recent years, continues to empower women through skill development and financial support.
