Temperature Marginally Improves in Jammu & Kashmir, Rain Expected

 

The temperature across Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a slight improvement on Tuesday, offering respite to residents from the recent cold spell. The Meteorological (MeT) Department has forecasted another wet spell starting from February 18.

 

According to a statement from the MeT Department, “Another wet spell between February 18 to February 20 with the possibility of light to moderate snow/rain at many places in J&K.”

 

The statement also advised travelers to adhere to administration and traffic police advisories, particularly due to significant snow accumulation and sub-freezing temperatures in many hilly areas.

 

In Srinagar, the minimum temperature recorded was minus 2.5 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg and Pahalgam recorded minus 4.5 and minus 5.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

 

In the Ladakh region, Leh town experienced a minimum temperature of minus 8.3 degrees Celsius, while Kargil recorded minus 15.9 degrees Celsius.

 

Meanwhile, in Jammu city, the minimum temperature stood at 8.4 degrees Celsius, with Katra at 8.8 degrees Celsius, Batote at 3.7 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah at 2 degrees Celsius, and Banihal at 1 degree Celsius.
