Teenage Girl Rescued After Jumping into River Jhelum in Pulwama

A 16-year-old girl, whose identity remains withheld, attempted to end her life by jumping into the river Jhelum in Kakapora, Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Prompt action from local residents and the Jammu and Kashmir Police averted tragedy as they swiftly intervened and rescued her from the river.

 

Reports from the scene indicate that the girl was immediately taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kakapora for urgent medical attention. Fortunately, her condition is reported to be stable.

 

This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by teenagers, highlighting the importance of mental health support and community vigilance in identifying and addressing distress signals. Swift action from both the community and law enforcement undoubtedly prevented a tragic loss of life.
