Srinagar Welcomes 25 New Smart City Buses for Enhanced Public Transport

SRINAGAR : Known for its picturesque landscapes, is now gearing up to enhance its urban mobility with the introduction of 25 new smart city buses by the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL). The city recently witnessed an inspection and trial run of these state-of-the-art buses, heralding a new era of comfort and efficiency in public transportation.
Anuj Malhotra, the General Manager of Planning & Urban Development at Smart City Srinagar, unveiled details about the imminent addition to the city’s public transport system. These buses, with a length of over 12 meters, mark a significant upgrade from their predecessors, boasting a seating capacity of 35 passengers along with additional standing room. Malhotra emphasized that these buses prioritize passenger comfort, featuring more spacious seating arrangements and high-back seats.
With the arrival of these 25 new buses, the city’s smart city bus fleet expands to a total of 100 buses, including the previously operational 75. This augmentation underscores the city’s commitment to modernizing its public transportation infrastructure to better serve its residents and visitors alike.
The inspection and trial run of the smart city buses were conducted under the supervision of key officials, including RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, and Anuj Malhotra, among others. Their presence underscores the significance of this development in improving urban mobility and addressing the evolving transportation needs of Srinagar’s growing population.
