Sopore Police Attaches Property of UAPA Accused Operating from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, May 14 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached an immovable property belonging to an accused allegedly operating as a terror handler from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in a major action against the terror ecosystem in Sopore.

Police said the attached property comprises 10 marlas of land worth around ₹20 lakh situated at Kehnusa in Bandipora.

The property belongs to Majid Ahmad Sofi alias Bisati, son of Ali Mohammad Sofi, a resident of New Colony Sopore, who is accused in FIR No. 307/2023 registered at Police Station Sopore under Sections 13, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act besides Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act.

According to police, investigations revealed that the accused is presently operating from Pakistan/PoK as a terror handler affiliated with the banned outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and was allegedly involved in facilitating and orchestrating terror activities in the Kashmir Valley.

Officials said the attachment proceedings were carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, revenue officials and independent witnesses after following due legal procedures.

Police stated that the action forms part of its broader strategy to dismantle terror funding and disrupt logistical and support networks linked to terrorist organisations.

Authorities reiterated that strict legal action would continue against individuals involved in terrorism, terror financing, harbouring militants or providing any form of support to anti-national activities.

Police also advised the public to remain vigilant and avoid any association with anti-national elements.(PTK)
