Sonam Wangchuk Speaks from Jail: Calls for Independent Inquiry, Stands Firm with Ladakh’s Demands

JODHPUR, OCTOBER 05 (PTK): In a powerful message relayed through his elder brother, Ka Tsetan Dorjey Ley, and advocate Mustafa Haji, Sonam Wangchuk, currently detained in Jodhpur Central Jail, has expressed his unwavering commitment to Ladakh’s cause and reiterated his support for an independent judicial inquiry into the recent killings that have rocked the region.
Wangchuk, a well-known education reformist and activist, conveyed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers, assuring the people of Ladakh and India that he is in good health, both physically and mentally. He also offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, while sending his thoughts and prayers to those injured or arrested in the aftermath of the incidents.
In a statement that will undoubtedly resonate with many, Wangchuk emphasized the need for an impartial investigation into the deaths of four individuals during the recent unrest, pledging to remain in jail until such an inquiry is carried out.
Reaffirming his steadfast commitment to the people of Ladakh, Wangchuk threw his full support behind the Apex Body and the KDA (Kargil Democratic Alliance), expressing solidarity with their demands for Sixth Schedule status and Statehood for Ladakh.
