SMC Commissioner Reviews Muharram-ul-Haram Arrangements Across Srinagar
Srinagar, June 11 (PTK): Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb, on Wednesday conducted an extensive inspection of major Imambaras, shrines and congregation points across Srinagar city to review preparations for the forthcoming observance of Muharram-ul-Haram 2026.
The inspection was aimed at assessing the status of civic arrangements and ensuring comprehensive preparedness at religious sites expected to witness large gatherings during the holy month.
Accompanied by senior officers of the Corporation, including Joint Commissioners, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Chief Sanitation Officer, Transport Officer, Zonal Sanitation Officers and concerned Ward Officers, the Commissioner visited several key religious sites including Ayatullah Syed Yousuf Imam Bara Bemina, Kadimi Imam Bara Zadibal, Astaan Aalia Mir Shams-ud-Din Iraqi Shrine, Imam Bara Baghwanpora and Imam Bara Hassanabad, among other locations.
During the inspection, the Commissioner issued strict directions to the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of sanitation measures, drainage clearance, road repairs, desilting of drains, maintenance of street lighting, uninterrupted water supply and proper deployment of manpower and machinery at all identified locations.
Faz Lul Haseeb stressed that all civic amenities should be made available well in advance and directed field officers to maintain continuous monitoring of arrangements to avoid any inconvenience to devotees.
He emphasized that no deficiency should remain unattended and instructed all departments to work in close coordination to facilitate the smooth conduct of Muharram-related activities throughout the city.
Special attention was given to sanitation management, waste disposal systems, emergency response preparedness and improvement of public infrastructure around major religious congregation sites.
The Commissioner also directed officers to remain available in the field and ensure prompt redressal of public grievances during the observance period.
Reaffirming the Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s commitment to public service, Faz Lul Haseeb stated that the Corporation is fully dedicated to providing a clean, safe and well-managed environment for devotees and ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across Srinagar city.(PTK)
