SKPA UDHAMPUR ORGANIZES POLICE COMMEMORATION DAY PARADE
UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 21 (PTK): Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, today organized commemoration parade in its campus in memory of the martyrs of various States Police, BSF, CISF, CRPF, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard, ITBP, NCB, NDRF & SSB who sacrificed their lives while rendering Commendable services and setting exemplary model of duty during the period 01-09-2024 to 31-08-2025.
Shri Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur took salute of Commemoration Parade. While speaking on the occasion Garib Dass apprised gathering about the history of commemoration day which traces back to 21st October 1959, when a patrol party of CRPF, led by SI Karam Singh, was ambushed by the Chinese forces at Hot Springs Ladakh and 10 jawans attained martyrdom. The bravery and resultant sacrifice of the jawans fighting at 16,000 ft. altitude, in extremely cold conditions and against all odds, is an epitome of the rarest of the rare courage. Indo-Tibetan Border Police sends a representative party of all Police forces, of the country, to Hot springs, Ladakh every year to pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives on 21st Oct, 1959 while guarding national frontiers. Garib Dass also read the names of 191 martyrs of various States Police, BSF, CISF, CRPF, Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard, ITBP, NDRF, SSB etc.

Shanker Bhadur, Dy.SP, AD(Admn), Shri Anroop Sharma, Dy.SP AD(Outdoor), Shri Mushtaq Ahmed Tantray, Dy.SP(M) Administrative Officer, Shri Reyaz Ahmed, Sr. PO, CLI, Smt. Chander Lekha, Sr.PO & Shri Amit Prakash Sehgal, Sr.PO. and huge gathering of Staff and Prob. Dy.SsP/PSIs/Upper/Pre-promotion Course also paid their rich tributes to the police martyrs by laying floral wreaths at the Shaheedi Smark.(PTK)
