Punjab Police Foils Potential Target Killings: Arrests 2 Members of BKI-Backed Terror Module
Chandigarh : The Punjab Police has scored a significant victory in its ongoing battle against terrorism with the apprehension of two individuals linked to the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module. Acting on intelligence inputs, law enforcement authorities successfully thwarted potential target killings, marking a crucial breakthrough in maintaining public safety and security.
According to Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, the arrested individuals have been identified as Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passian, based in the United States, and Shamsher Singh, alias Shera, currently located in Armenia. Their alleged association with BKI and connections to notorious terrorists, including Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, based in Pakistan, have raised concerns about the global network fueling extremist activities.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Happy Passian, in collaboration with Rinda and Shamsher, orchestrated efforts to radicalize young individuals, enticing them into perpetrating anti-national activities within the state. The recovery of two pistols, four magazines, and 30 live cartridges underscores the grave nature of the threat posed by the apprehended suspects.
In response to these developments, the Punjab Police has taken decisive action, registering a First Information Report (FIR) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar is spearheading the investigation to dismantle the terror module and neutralize any further threats to public safety.
This successful operation stands as a testament to the Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
