Director Agriculture Jammu Inspects Seed Processing Plant, Engineering Workshop
Jammu, June 3 (PTK): Director Agriculture Jammu (DAJ), Anil Gupta, on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Seed Processing Plant and Agriculture Engineering Workshop to review ongoing projects, infrastructure, machinery and overall functioning of the two key agricultural establishments.
The Director was accompanied by Deputy Director (Central) Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Agriculture Research Engineer (ARE) Firdous Ahmad Tak, ASCO (I&P) Sanjeev Mehta and Assistant Agriculture Engineer Bharti Thusoo.
During the visit, Anil Gupta took a detailed round of both facilities and interacted with officers, engineers and technical staff to assess the progress of various agricultural development activities and projects being undertaken at the establishments.
He reviewed the operational status of seed processing units, storage facilities, workshop machinery, repair and maintenance infrastructure as well as the availability of technical resources.
The Director emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and transparency in all operations and directed officials to ensure proper upkeep and regular maintenance of machinery and equipment for effective service delivery to the farming community.
While inspecting the Seed Processing Plant, Gupta stressed the need to expedite the dispatch and distribution of processed seed stocks currently lying in storage so that quality seeds reach farmers well before the commencement of the sowing season.
He instructed the concerned officials to formulate a time-bound action plan for the movement and disposal of available seed stocks and avoid unnecessary accumulation in warehouses.
The Director also laid special emphasis on cleanliness, sanitation and proper housekeeping within the premises of both establishments. He directed staff to maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensure safe storage of seeds and strictly follow safety protocols to enhance workplace efficiency and safety.
At the Agriculture Engineering Workshop, Gupta reviewed the status of repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery and equipment and underscored the importance of timely servicing of farm machinery to strengthen mechanisation initiatives across the Jammu division.
He further instructed officers to identify infrastructure gaps, improve resource utilisation and adopt innovative practices to enhance the performance and productivity of both units.
Reiterating the department’s commitment to agricultural development, the Director said efforts are being focused on strengthening agricultural infrastructure and ensuring the availability of quality inputs and mechanisation support for the farming community.(PTK)
