Prominent Islamic Scholar Sheikh Habib Al-Umar Al-Jilani Passes Away; Allama Dr. Hami Expresses Grief and Sorrow,Calls for United Action Against Drugs.

Srinagar, January 23(PTK): The eminent Islamic scholar and teacher of scholars, Ustad al-Ulama, Sheikh al-Hadith, Hazrat Sheikh Habib Al-Umar Al-Jilani, bid farewell to this mortal world during his journey from Jordan to Indonesia and returned to his True Lord. His scholarly and spiritual services to the world are as evident as the sun. Throughout his life, he left behind a long chain of promoting the Book and Sunnah, disseminating Islamic sciences, and undertaking extensive humanitarian welfare works examples of which will remain for centuries. He possessed complete mastery in teaching Hadith, Tasawwuf (Sufism), and the Quran. This statement was expressed by the respected Chief of the Karwan e Islami International Pir e Tareeqat, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, after the blessed Friday prayer at the Central Jamia Masjid Mehr Allah Zainakot HMT, while speaking to media representatives. He said that it is the greatness of scholars and gnostics (Arifeen) that even today, lights remain shining in the dark storms of the world. It is the special quality of scholars to incline and attract this declining society toward true life. It is worth noting that Sheikh Habib Al-Umar was not only the author of several books but also a great jurist (faqih) of the Shafi’i school of thought. He visited Kashmir twice and quenched the seekers of knowledge with the true cup from the heritage of Mustafa ﷺ (the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him). On this occasion, Allama Hami said that the effects of drugs are appearing like a cancerous sore in and around the state [Jammu & Kashmir], and to eradicate it, people must unite and work together regardless of sect or religion. However, law enforcing agencies, including the police administration, are currently doing excellent work to end the epidemic of drugs. To bring this scourge to its logical conclusion in the true sense, there is a need for every individual at the grassroots level to remain engaged with their responsibilities. He said that the incident of Mi’raj (the Prophet’s Ascension) clearly manifests the elevation of humanity along with spiritual values, from which not only the Muslim society but every human being has a real need to benefit. He stated that human backwardness is impossible without knowledge, skill, and awareness. This is why, in every era, the pure Sufis and righteous Rishis dedicated their perfect assets to guiding lives on the path of growth and guidance, establishing immortal examples that remain minarets of light for human greatness even after centuries. In today’s era, it is our collective national duty to firmly embed the heritage of the Awliya (saints) and the righteous in hearts in an organized and secure manner.(PTK)
