Police organises awareness programme cum rally against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Awantipora
Wild bung also destroyed in Pampore and Awantipora
Press Trust Of Kashmir Srinagar September 02: In view of growing menace of drugs and to spread awareness among the general public about ill effects of drug menace, Police in Awantipora organized drug awareness programme cum rally in the area.
The awareness programme was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Tral. The programme was attended by students of different age groups, members of different youth clubs, traders, shopkeepers, drivers and other respectable of the area.
ADC Tral presided over the programme as the chief guest. SDPO Tral and officers of excise department were also present on the occasion.
ADC Tral in his address complimented the participants and highlighted the need to protect our young generation from the menace. He said that drug abuse poses a serious challenge to our society and urged upon different sections of the society to act vibrantly against this menace. He also stressed upon the parents to closely monitor their children and urged them to help their wards in choosing different career avenues through which they channelize their potential and energy in a positive way.

SDPO Tral while speaking on the occasion, appealed the participants to inform police about any illicit drugs trade or illicit crop cultivation so that appropriate legal action will be taken against the culprits.
Meanwhile, an awareness rally against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was organized by Police Station Awantipora which commenced from PS Awantipora and culminated near Nambal Awantipora. The rally was attended by Medical Staff, Teachers, students of different schools, respectable citizens of Awantipora and Police/civil officers.
Moreover, Police launched drive against bung cultivation and destroys huge quantity of wild bung in Awantipora and Pampore areas.
