Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam; Huge quantity of contraband substance recovered
Press trust of kashmir | Kulgam : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Okey intercepted a vehicle (Alto car) bearing registration number JK18-9565 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Shahid Ahmad Zargar son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar & Rafiq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gaffar Bhat both residents of Okey Kulgam. During checking, officers recover one Quintal of Poppy Straw from the said vehicle. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
During preliminary questioning, they revealed the involvement of another person identified as Mohd Ishaq Sheikh son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh resident of Okey Kulgam. During the course of investigation, Officers raided the residential house of Mohd Ishaq Sheikh at Okay and recovered two grinding machines, one digital weighing machine and one genset from the said house. However, the accused is at large and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 152/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.(PTK)

Police seeks public cooperation to mitigate spread of virus
Press trust of kashmir | Srinagar : Continuing its efforts to curb the outbreak of 2nd wave of Coronavirus, during the last 24 hours Police have arrested 02 persons, lodged 01 FIR and also realized fine to the tune of ₹9,89,590/- from 7312 people throughout the Kashmir valley for violating the various guidelines/rules/SOPs regarding Covid-19. Besides, 10 vehicles were also seized in Shopian for violating Covid norms.
The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic.
Community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines/protocols for their own safety and for the safety of others. The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.(PTK)
