Monga expressed grief and sorrow over tragic death of Uri labourers in Uttarakhand
SRINAGAR, DEC 22 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President and former MLC G N Monga has expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic death of seven labourers from Uri, Baramulla in a landslide in Char Dham area of Uttarakhand.
Extending his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families, Monga urged the J&K Governor to enhance the ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh each announced in favour of next of kin of the deceased. “In today’s time, Rs 2 lakh is a meagre amount and the Government must enhance it suitably. Also, the government of Uttarakhand is duty bound to provide full compensation to the families of the deceased,” he said in a statement.
He also demanded that the injured labourers must be treated with full care and attention and also provided suitable compensation. The Congress leader also urged the J&K government and Uttarakhand government to provide every possible support to the bereaved families to ensure immediate shifting of the bodies to their native places back in Kashmir.
