Ministry of Home Affairs Declares Lashkar-e-Taiba Member as Terrorist under UAPA
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially declared Mohammad Qasim Gujjar, a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) currently residing in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. According to an official told Press Trust of Kashmir, this decision was made under the provisions of the Act, specifically Clause (a) of Sub-Section (1) and Sub-Section (2) of Section 35.
Qasim Gujjar, also known as Salman or Suleman, aged approximately 32 years and hailing from Angrala, Tehsil Mahroe, District Reasi, Jammu, is associated with the terrorist organization LeT, which is designated as a terrorist group under the first schedule of the UAPA.
Reports indicate that Qasim has been actively involved in a range of terrorist activities, including coordinating, supplying, and identifying locations for dropping arms, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) via drones. Additionally, he has been implicated in managing consignments from across the border, leading to numerous terror attacks resulting in casualties and injuries.
Furthermore, Qasim is allegedly responsible for the recruitment and radicalization of individuals through various means, including social media platforms and encrypted communication applications, in order to establish new terror modules.
The declaration of Qasim Gujjar as a terrorist underscores the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining national security.
