Midoora gunfight: Clashes erupt near encounter site
Pulwama, May 30: Clashes erupted between government forces and protesters in Midoora, Nanar and Batagund villages of Sub division Tral area of Pulwama district today evening.
Reports reaching to PTK said that hundreds of youth tried to assemble near the encounter site amid shouting pro-freedom and anti-government slogans, triggering massive clashes.
Earlier a gunfight raged between militants and forces in Nanar Midoora village after a search operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Sources told PTK that after the initial exchange of fire between militants and forces, scores of youth took to streets in Midoora, Nanar and Batagund area and started pelting stones on government forces to disrupt their operation and help hiding militants to escape.
Government forces retaliated by tear gas shells and fired pellets to disperse the protesters.
The encounter and clashes were going on when last reports came in.
