Massive clashes erupt in Magam

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Massive clashes erupted between youth and security forces in Magam town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district Sunday afternoon after forces tried to disperse protestors who were protesting against rape of a three year old girl.
As per an eyewitness, the locals had assembled on Srinagar-Gulmarg road to stage a protests demonstration demanding punishment to the person involved in rape of three year old girl. The protestors blocked Srinagar-Gulmagar road, burnt tyres and blocked the traffic movement.
When government forces reached the spot to disperse protestors, they protestors pelted stone on them leading to clashes. Security forces fired teargas smoke shells to disperse the protestors however they continued to throw stones. The protestors were chased away from Srinagar-Gulmarg road. When this story was filed, clashes were going on at Magam-Beerwah road.
It’s pertinent to mention that a three year old girl was raped by a man in Malikpora area of Sumbal in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The police yesterday formed a SIT to investigate the case. Police said that it has arrested the accused and further investigation is on.
