LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates ‘Shaurya Gatha’ Complex in Tangdhar, Calls It Tribute to Soldiers’ Sacrifice

Srinagar, May 14 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday inaugurated the Shaurya Gatha Complex at SM Hill in Tangdhar, Karnah area of Kupwara, describing the initiative as a major step towards promotion of battlefield tourism, heritage preservation and border area development.

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the efforts of the Northern Command Indian Army, Chinar Corps, engineers, soldiers, workforce and local residents for completing the prestigious project in a short period.

Addressing the gathering, Manoj Sinha said the complex stands as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.

“The Shaurya Gatha Complex stands as a tribute to the valour and sacrifices of Indian soldiers. This initiative will create new opportunities for battlefield tourism, homestays, local crafts and youth entrepreneurship in border areas,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing peace, progress and prosperity, while also reaffirming that the Union Territory is an integral part of India.

He said the administration remains committed to development of border regions and added that promotion of valour tourism under the Bharat Rannbhoomi Darshan initiative would boost economic growth and tourism in the Tangdhar-Karnah region.

Manoj Sinha informed that seven villages in Tangdhar and Karnah have been included under the Vibrant Village Programme to improve infrastructure, livelihoods and quality of life in border areas.

Highlighting the importance of the proposed Sadhna Tunnel, he said the tunnel would significantly improve connectivity, security and economic activities in the region by ensuring all-weather access and better movement for trade, education and healthcare.

The Lieutenant Governor also urged people across the country to visit Kupwara and explore its offbeat tourist destinations.

He further lauded the Army for its role in the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Campaign and expressed concern over narco-smuggling attempts in border areas like Tangdhar.

“Tangdhar remains a strategic region where our neighbour persistently attempts to escalate narco-smuggling activities. Surveillance must remain foolproof to ensure that no illegal drugs enter our territory,” he said.

He also appreciated the support extended by local residents and school students towards the anti-drug campaign in Jammu and Kashmir.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Lieutenant General Balbir Singh, MLA Karnah Javaid Ahmad Mirchal and senior officers from the Army, police and civil administration.(PTK)
