Kathua District Cracks Down on Electoral Malpractices Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

KATHUA : In a proactive move to safeguard the sanctity of the electoral process, enforcement teams in Kathua District have made substantial seizures of cash and liquor since the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 

Since the initiation of MCC, enforcement teams have diligently operated across Kathua, resulting in the interception and seizure of Rs 51.54 lakh in cash, coupled with liquor valued at Rs. 39.63 lakh. This cumulative seizure amounts to a staggering Rs. 91.18 lakh.

 

These decisive actions underscore a collective commitment to upholding the integrity of the democratic process. Speaking on the significance of these measures, the District Election Officer Kathua, also the Returning Officer for the 4-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, emphasized the unwavering dedication of enforcement teams to ensuring fair and transparent elections. “We are continuously working to swiftly identify and rectify any breaches of the model code of conduct,” he stated.

 

Efforts of this nature are pivotal in deterring illicit activities that could potentially compromise the democratic process, thereby ensuring that voters can exercise their rights without external influence or coercion.

 

As the Lok Sabha elections progress, the administration urges citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or violations of the poll code to the relevant authorities.
