JKECC Expresses Displeasure Over CM’s Press Conference, Calls It a “Damp Squib”
Srinagar ,Jan 04 (PTK) The much-anticipated press conference held by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on January 2, 2025, at SKICC has left the employees of J&K disappointed. The event, expected to address key employee issues, failed to provide any concrete solutions, sparking frustration among the workforce.
In a statement issued to PTK ,Shah Fayaz, President of the Jammu Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) and Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Teachers Association, voiced his discontent, calling the press conference “unfortunate.” He said, “While policy matters may take time, basic issues such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and medical reimbursements fall squarely within the domain of the Hon’ble CM. The neighboring UT of Ladakh has already resolved these matters, yet employees in J&K continue to suffer.”
The employees, who have long been waiting for resolution to their grievances, feel their concerns have been sidelined. Mr. Fayaz expressed regret over the lack of actionable outcomes, remarking, “We were expecting mountains but didn’t even get a molehill.”
In response, the JKECC has called for an urgent meeting of its general council to decide the future course of action. The committee is expected to outline concrete steps to address the issues and escalate their demands.
The situation highlights growing discontent among government employees in the region, who are seeking immediate and meaningful redressal of their long-pending grievances.(PTK)
