Jamaat e Islami ban: Centre should reconsider its decision: Amin Bhat

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Congress senior leader Mohammad Amin Bhat expressed shock on this “uncalled decision that has been issued to muzzle the voice of common masses.

Amin Bhat said “ban on the Jamaat is the outcome of the communal politics ahead of the 2019 Parliament elections. Some right wing parties want to gain political mileage out of it.”

He further added Jamaat cadres in 2014 floods worked day and night during the calamity to extend relief and rehabilitation to the suffering people.

Amin Bhat urge the GOI to undo the move of banning Jamaat-e-Islami in the state in the greater good of the country.

He further added that the Jamaat E Islami leader should be released as their families are in trouble.

The ban was imposed days after the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a massive crackdown on leaders of the Jamaat by arresting close to 400 of its members.

Kashmiri authorities have continued to seal properties of Jamaat-e-Islami and residences of some activists since then, even as they have said that schools, mosques and orphanages affiliated to the group will not be affected.

However Mohammad Amin Bhat added that if Article 35A is scrapped, it will lead to Civil war in Kashmir.

Amin Bhat said that “If BJP and RSS think that this war will remain restricted to Kashmir, they are living in fool’s paradise. It will engulf the whole of India”.

He further said that, Centre should not touch the special status of Kashmir. If they do, they will invite trouble for entire India and the region. “Article 35A is our minimum right and we will not tolerate any attempt to fiddle with it,” he added.  (PTK)
