Govt should expeditiously provide relief to apple orchard owners- Sheeban Ashai

Press Trust of Kashmir |  Shopian, : Senior Awami Itehad Party leader Sheeban Ashai, today urged present day Government to expeditiously respond to losses suffered by apple farmers in view of untimely snowfall in various places in Kashmir region. In Shopian especially scores of farmers have suffered immense losses. It is saddening that even after decades of improved practices and huge investments from Government’s end still farmers on the ground aren’t able to accustom themselves with best practices from across the Globe. Ashai urged LG administration to make it a top priority to use best industry practices to prevent year long toil and hard work of farmers from natural disasters . He also impressed upon need to have better coordination of Agro-horticulture sector with IMD department since both sectors have borne massive brunt from lack of proper communication and channelised coordination. Ashai impressed upon Government to ensure better functioning of Agro, horticulture Department’s and make it binding upon administrative heads to ensure even farmers at the end of the queue get access to better resources and technical inputs as is expected from them. Ashai solicited present administration to not leave suffering farmers at the mercy of God and immediately provide relief to apple orchard owners and growers especially in South Kashmir where damage has been more severe.(PTK).
