Disallowing prayers at two historic religious places an unfortunate thing: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum*
*Govt should rethink over its decision and allow people to observe eid prayers:Qayoom Wani*
SGR, May 02 (PTK) Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has expressed concern over the decision of the administration for not allowing congregational Eidul Fiter prayer at Jamia Masjid Srinagar and erstwhile historic Eidgah Srinagar.
In a statment issued to PTK, Chairman Forum Abdul Qayoom Wani termed it as an intentional hurt to the sentiments of muslims and the interference in the religious matters of muslims.
The Forum statement said that such steps are totally against the constitutional and human rights of a country which ensures religious freedom to all citizens and every community to perform their obligatory religious activities.
Forum Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that Jamai Masjid Srinagar and Eidgah are erstwhile historic places to perform religious
activities particularly the eid prayer and disallowing the same today means the intentional hurting of the people of Kashmir who like to pray at these places out of devotion and religious belief.
Wani said, govt should rethink over its decision and allow people to observe eid prayers who have been longing for the prayers of Eidul Fiter at these places after having performed fasting throught the holy month of Ramazan.
Disallowing prayers at these historic religious places would be an unfortunate thing. (PTK)
