Director Fisheries inspects Trout Fish Farms Harwan & Laribal; reviews implementation of Fisheries development schemes

Srinagar February, 26 (PTK) Department introduced land & water efficient technology in Fisheries sector: Farooq Dar

for better growth of the sector and welfare of those engaged in the trade.

The emphasis was laid by the Director on generating awareness among the general masses particularly the unemployed youth to start fisheries related business. He impressed upon the concerned District Officers to utilise different media channels to advertise about the PMMSY and various other beneficiary oriented schemes of the Department.

While reviewing the fish conservation measure of Dal Lake, it was informed that about 80 illegal fishing case have been compounded and about 1500 licence including professional/rod etc have been issued to the fishermen during the current year.

The Director instructed the staff to maintain strict vigil over the illegal fishing activities in the lake by framing anti poaching squads.

 The Director was accompanied by the Joint Director Fisheries (South), Kashmir, Chief Project Officer, RFFDA, Srinagar and Assistant Director Fisheries, Srinagar during the tour.
