Comprehensive policy needed to revive horticulture sector: Kisan Tehreek

Srinagar, April 21(PTK): General Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Kisan Tehreek, Ghulam Nabi Malik Tuesday said that the J&K economy is dependent on, horticulture which generates employment for a large number of people, lies in shambles due to continuous lockdown.

Malik said that to bring the economy on track after relaxation, if given in lockdown, the immediate remedial measures need to be taken. He suggested that to give a little phillip to  this already damaged sector during previous years clampdown, one lakh ton apple dumped  in Lassipora  cold  storage  needs to be transported to different fruit Mandie’s of the country on priority and  it should be ensured that no distress sale will take place.

He demanded Rs.7500/-should be deposited in the bank accounts of all non income tax payers which are jobless amid lockdown for three months . Fresh KCC loans should be provided to all kisans. To give a proper relief to the effected dairy producers and to ensure that their milk is not gone waste in coming days.

Similarly oldage and widow pension should be released to all those who have applied for the same. Govt should provide cash to the needy at door steps. Gujar and Bakarwals should be allowed to travel to their Bahks. Free ration to all the needy people should be provided.

The compensation on account of snow damage to the orchardists of Kashmir valley and heavy rains damage to the paddy producing areas of Jammu has not been released for all the effected people, the same should be released in their favour forthwith.(PTK)
