Chinner to Ari Goripora road in shambles, authorities in slumber
Srinagar, Mar 17 (PTK): The inhabitants of Chinner, Ari Goripora and its adjacent areas in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are up in arms against the Roads and Buildings department for failing to provide better roads in and around the village.
The residents told Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK) that the main road, which connects us with rest of the valley via Kangan is in complete shambles. “The road is dotted with potholes and is causing tremendous hardships to the frequent commuters,” the locals said.
“Even the pedestrians are afraid to walk on the road as many of them have twisted ankles several times,” Khursheed Ahmad, a resident of Chinner told PTK.
The residents said that less public transport was plying on the road now as the transporters were incurring huge losses. “The vehicles of these transporters were suffering extensive damages due to which their annual maintenance cost had increased manifold,” the residents added.
They said that many people were suffering from backaches and other orthopedic disorders after frequently travelling on the road stretch.
The locals asserted that the road had not been repaired from decades.
“We apprised the senior functionaries of the R&B department about the hardships faced by the people due to the pathetic road condition and urged them to undertake the repair works, but our repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” the residents said adding the problem still persists.
They sought the intervention of Chief Engineer R&B in this regard. (PTK)
