Ban on Drone Use Imposed in Kargil for Kargil Vijay Diwas

Srinagar, July 24: Authorities in Kargil district have imposed a ban on the use of drones from July 24 to July 26, in view of the upcoming Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The ban, requested by SSP Kargil, aims to ensure the security of visiting VIPs on July 25 and 26. Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS, District Magistrate of Kargil, issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samihata, 2023.

The official order declares the Sub Division Drass and Tehsil Kargil of District Kargil as a “No Flying Zone” for drones and a “Red Zone” under the Drone Rules 2021 during the specified dates. A copy of the order obtained by the Press Trust of Kashmir details the restrictions.

Exceptions to the ban include security agencies, police, paramilitary forces, SPG, and defense forces. The order highlights that it was passed ex-parte due to the urgent situation and will be publicized through various media, including print, digital, and social platforms, and by posting notices in public places.

The Sr. Superintendent of Police, Kargil, is tasked with ensuring compliance. Violators will face prosecution and punishment as per legal provisions.
