Arrest of Hizbul Mujahideen Operative in Pulwama Yields Weapons Cache

 

Pulwama, 3rd November 2024: In a major breakthrough, a joint team from Pulwama Police, 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the 182nd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested a key overground worker (OGW) linked with Hizbul Mujahideen, identified as Sajad Ahmed Dar, son of Nazeer Ahmed Dar, a resident of Tahab, Pulwama. The arrest took place on 2nd November 2024 in Dangerpora, Pulwama.

 

During an official statement released to the Press Trust of Kashmir, authorities confirmed that Sajad Ahmed Dar, during interrogation, revealed that he had concealed a cache of arms and explosives inside his shop. Following his disclosure, security forces recovered a pistol, a magazine with 12 rounds, and two live grenades, which were promptly seized.

 

This arrest follows the apprehension of another OGW associated with Hizbul Mujahideen, Danish Bashir Ahangar, on 29th October 2024, in connection with FIR No. 224/2024 under sections 4/5 of the Explosive Act and sections 18 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) at Police Station Pulwama. According to officials, Ahangar’s arrest provided key information, leading to further detentions and subsequent seizures in the ongoing investigation.

 

This operation marks another step in the intensified crackdown against militancy and overground workers in the region, as security forces strive to dismantle networks involved in aiding and abetting terror-related activities.
