ARMY ORGANISES A TWO WEEK LONG TRAINING PROGRAMME ON EQUINES
Srinagar :4 Jul 2018(PTK) A two week long Training Course on “Equines Treatment, Breeding, Care and Management” for interns of BVSc & AH of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (K) is being organised under the aegis of Chinar Corps at 54 Advance Field Veterinary Hospital (54 AFVH) at Haft Chinar.
The training programme, being attended by 50 students, was attended by Prof. SA Wani, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof. Makhdoomi, Head of Department Veterinary Surgery and Radiology and Dr. M. R. Fazili, Head of Department, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Dir RVS, Chinar Corps and other Army Officers.
This capacity building exercise envisaged in the year 2004 as a part of Indian Army’s initiative has been very well received by the students since it provides a great platform to pick up the finer nuances of equine medicine from Army Vets. During the two week course all relevant aspects of equine medicine, breeding, care and management will be covered with emphasis on practical skill development and demonstration of clinical techniques.
Extending a warm welcome to the students and faculty, Commandant, 54 AFVH assured that the training programme will provide an enriching first hand clinical experience on all salient aspects of equine clinical practice and hoped that the budding veterinarians would benefit from this course which has been extended to 14 days owing to the immensely positive feedback from the previous batches. He further elaborated on the role of veterinarians in the Army and different Op Sadhbhavana related activities being carried out by RVC.
Dr. M. R. Fazili in his introductory talk applauded this noble gesture of sharing knowledge by the Indian Army. He called upon all the students to take keen interest in the course and also imbibe ethos and values like discipline, punctuality, Team work etc.
Prof Sarfarz A Wani in his address said that this noble professional gesture from the Army is good opportunity for the budding veterinarians to get first hand insight into the exciting world of equines and acquire finer nuances of equine practice which will keep them in good stead in their long professional careers ahead. He expressed his sincere thanks to the GOC, Chinar Corps and 54 AFVH for organising the course.
