Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani Interacts With Industrial, Trade Associations in Jammu
Jammu, May 21 (PTK): Nasir Aslam Wani on Wednesday held an interaction with representatives of industrial and trade associations from Jammu province to discuss issues concerning the industrial sector and ease of doing business in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, representatives of various industrial associations highlighted issues related to growth and sustainability of industries in the Union Territory and stressed the need for continued policy support to strengthen the industrial ecosystem.
The industrial representatives pointed out that there is presently no fiscal package available for industries in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed hope that the proposed Logistics Policy and Public Procurement Policy under formulation would address several challenges faced by the sector.
The issue of extension in EM-I registrations for units allotted land at Balole Industrial Estate was also raised. The associations further demanded introduction of auto-renewal mechanisms for Green Category Units to facilitate ease of doing business.
Suggestions were also made for identification and development of dedicated trekking tourism routes and according priority to local industries, especially traditional sectors like the woollen industry in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the participants, the Advisor reiterated the government’s commitment towards improving ease of doing business and making industries in J&K more vibrant and competitive.
He stressed that industrial growth should lead to employment generation and emphasized the need to promote localized industries, particularly agro-based and wool-based sectors.
The industrial representatives also demanded continuation of turnover incentives and urged the government to take up the issue of pending registrations under the New Central Sector Scheme with the Central Government.
They also advocated for extension of benefits under NCSS and stressed the need for leveraging Artificial Intelligence, promoting e-commerce and focusing on the service sector in the Union Territory.
Among those present during the interaction were Managing Director J&K SIDCO/SICOP Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar, Director Industries and Commerce Jammu Dr. Arun Manhas, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu Arun Gupta, National Chairman D2C Industry Association M.A. Alim, Vice President CII Sidhant Choudhary, Chairman ICC Rahul Sahai, President ASSOCHAM Manik Batra, President PHDCCI Rakesh Wazir and Chairperson FICCI FLO Varsha Bansal.
Later, several delegations and individuals also met the Advisor at Civil Secretariat Jammu and projected their issues for redressal.
A delegation of the Non-Teaching Employees Union of University of Jammu raised service-related matters, while Chairman of All J&K Transport Welfare Association Karan Singh highlighted concerns of the transport fraternity.
Former President of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rakesh Gupta also met the Advisor and sought amendments in the Society Act in J&K.
A delegation from Mohalla Welfare Committee Gujjar Nagar requested early release of compensation for flood-affected families of last year and sought expedited relief and rehabilitation assistance.
The Advisor assured all delegations that their genuine demands would be examined and addressed on priority and directed the concerned departments to take appropriate action in a time-bound manner.(PTK)
