Encounter Between Security Forces and Terrorists in Kishtwar District

Jammu, August 11: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in a remote forest area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported. The brief but intense exchange of gunfire occurred as police, supported by army and paramilitary forces, conducted a search operation in the Nownatta, Naageni Peyaas, and nearby regions following intelligence on terrorist movements.

 

Additional forces have been deployed to the area as the operation to track down the terrorists continues, indicating the high alert status in the region.

 

This latest encounter comes on the heels of a tragic incident in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, where two army personnel, Havaldar Dipak Kumar Yadav and Lance Naik Praveen Sharma, lost their lives during a fierce gunfight in the Kokernag woods. Six others, including two civilians, were also injured in the incident, underscoring the ongoing security challenges in the region.

 

The situation remains tense as security forces intensify their efforts to root out terrorist elements in Jammu and Kashmir.
