With the end of Ramadan drawing near, anticipation for Eid ul-Fitr is at its peak as the Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted tomorrow evening in India and Pakistan. According to experts, there is a 95% likelihood of the crescent moon being seen, indicating that Eid ul-Fitr will likely be celebrated on the 10th of April in both countries.
Traditionally, Eid ul-Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide. In India and Pakistan, there is a strong probability, exceeding 90%, that the crescent moon will be visible on the evening of April 9th, signaling the commencement of Eid celebrations on the 10th of April, particularly in regions like Jammu and Kashmir.
While the Middle East, including countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran, is also expected to observe Eid ul-Fitr on the same day, varying weather conditions may impact the visibility of the Shawwal moon.
In Jammu and Kashmir, India, weather forecasts suggest mostly dry conditions on the 9th of April, with the possibility of the sky becoming partly cloudy or mostly cloudy towards late afternoon or evening. Such conditions may pose challenges for moon sighting in certain areas, potentially affecting the timing of Eid ul-Fitr celebrations.
Eid ul-Fitr festivities typically begin with the special Eid prayer, followed by gatherings with family and friends. The customary exchange of greetings, such as “Eid Mubarak,” and the sharing of gifts further enhance the joyous atmosphere of the occasion.
As Muslims eagerly await the sighting of the Shawwal moon, communities across India, Pakistan, and beyond are preparing to welcome Eid ul-Fitr with heartfelt celebrations and expressions of unity and goodwill.
